You know what you like. We encourage the philosophy of discovery but some of our area favorites are listed HERE as well as retailers of products showcased in the suite. Not seeing something - just ask or take a walk and you just might stumble into a surprise. The Krier Carriage House Suite is perfectly located for easy walkability within 1-2 blocks of many places:
- Post office is at the end of the block to the west.
- Library is also straight west down our street 2 ½ blocks
- Playground is to the east at end of block.
- Main street businesses including restaurants, brewery, wine cafe, entertainment, shopping, and grocery store within three blocks.

Occupancy: 1-3 persons. No Pets Allowed. No Smoking. One queen-sized bed, one full sized pull out sofa, one bathroom, kitchenette.
Summary
The Krier Carriage House Suite is just shy of 450 square feet, and specifically furnished with brand new, high design décor creating a stylish and charming ambiance. Ideal for business travelers or other personnel who may commute such as: vendor representatives/trainers, employees in transition. The KCHS is also well suited for people touring the town through the chamber, persons here visiting relatives (new grandparents, graduations, weddings, hospital stays, funerals etc.). Access to adjacent changing room (with table), laundry room with steamer, iron and ironing board, full length mirror as well as extra chairs and tray tables available for bridal parties for wedding day preparations, bride retreat, small showers/meetings (up to 10)...
At this time I am not posting on Airbnb, or Vbro or other vacation rental sites. The space is direct-book with the intention of accommodation for mostly local purposes or Madelia residents who need extra accommodation for their guests.
The property:
The original home was built somewhere around or before 1890. It has undergone many transformations, including changing from a single family house to several apartments and layouts, and back again to being a single family home.
The garage building and carriage house shell, mudroom/side entry and laundry room closet were added in 2018. The carriage house portion is newly finished for short term rental/stays in 2022. Porch posts from the house that were repurposed as support beams into a later garage (since removed) are being restored soon to be incorporated into the
new garage/carriage house. The shelf by the bedroom area window is original woodwork from the main house. The wallpaper design is called “Folklore” and is a blend of Scandinavian and Mexican Otomi patterns, a tribute to our vibrant community.

THE WHO and the WHY of It
This picture was taken on a day that everything just seemed perfect. Things came together in
unexpected, surprising ways and our outing was a delight. The picture became an inspiration for the
decoration of the carriage house, with a “Woods and Water” theme. But sunlight started to break through in the design as it did at the exact moment during this slightly overcast day. If you look closely, you will see sunbursts peaking throughout the suite.
A bit about your host: I’m Joeleen, wife, mother, American Sign Language Interpreter by trade,
sometimes playwright, and child of God. Things that bring me joy are coffee, wine, gardening, Theatre,
stewardship, biographies, Bible study, traveling, beaches and firesides, playing/learning guitar, Brad
Krier and the LEA girls.

I stayed at Krier Carriage House Suite this last weekend and thoroughly enjoyed my experience! The directions to get to the Carriage House were clear. It was well-stocked (towels, bed sheets, and all other things I could think of to have a comfortable stay). Joeleen was an incredibly thoughtful host and communicated with me throughout my stay to make sure I had what I needed. If you’re in the area, definitely stay here!

All I can say is WOW! My friend and I stayed here for my bridal shower and the space was beautiful! The suite has everything you could ever need! We enjoyed the homemade baked bread as well and a stocked kitchen with light items we were able to use for breakfast and such! The appliances were very cute and retro! My favorite was the fridge! The bed was very comfy and the sheets were comfy as well. The bathroom was very spacious with a deep tub and also stocked with necessary hygiene products. The area was very easy to get into and felt very safe with our own passcodes. The hosts were immaculate and were very accommodating. It felt very personal! I would highly recommend anyone to stay here and it would not be a regret!
